TulipArt 2011: vote for your favourite design!
10 May 2011
Nuffic Neso Mexico, in cooperation with the Dutch Embassy in Mexico, organised a design contest for students called ’TulipArt 2011: a functional and sustainable design competition based on the Dutch tulip’.
Designers were able to compete in one of two categories – amateur (students) and professional – and send in their designs from 1 February until 20 April. In total over 50 designs were received, varying from chairs to bags and from lamps to blenders.
All designers are competing to win a trip to the Netherlands and participate in a summer course at Utrecht Summer School (amateur category) or attend the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven (People’s Choice Award, see below).
Selected designs
A jury consisting of two curators of a Belgian-Dutch design exhibition, two staff members of the Dutch Embassy in Mexico and the Nuffic Neso Mexico team chose the 28 best designs to be displayed during the exhibition. The selected designs can be viewed on the TulipArt facebook page.
People’s Choice Award
While in the amateur category the jury was able to select a winner, in the professional category there was no clear first choice. Therefore it has been decided to allow the public to vote for the winner and make the prize a ’People’s Choice Award’. During the exhibition and in the photo album on the TulipArt facebook page, people can vote for their favourite design. The award winner will attend the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven this year.
Cast your vote
We would therefore like to invite you to vote for your favourite design using the ’Like’ button on Facebook before May 25. The winner will be announced on June 2nd.
