ALFA III: Call for proposals to be launched in March 2010

The Cooperation Office of the European Commission (EuropeAid) announced that the call for proposals for the ALFA III project will open in March 2010.

ALFA logoThe objective of this call is to continue the actions that were developed under the first and second phase of the ALFA programme. Higher education institutions as well as private or public companies, NGOs, chambers of commerce and other organizations can participate in this call.

There are two ways to participate: joint projects and structural projects. The joint projects are designed to promote the exchange of experiences, methods and knowledge between European and Latin American higher education institutions. The main themes for these projects are institutional management, academic, technical and scientific management and social cohesion.

The structural projects refer to projects whose purpose is the development of mechanisms that can improve the modernization, reforms and harmonization of education systems on a regional level in Latin America.

ALFA III – 2nd call for proposals

Provisional dates:

  • Launch for 2nd call: March 2010
  • Deadline for submission of applications: June 2010
  • Signature of contracts with beneficiaries: December 2010

ALFA

ALFA is a programme of cooperation between higher education institutions of the European Union and Latin America. Participant countries are the 27 member states of the European Union and the following 18 Latin American countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. Institution networks from both regions develop the project activities.

The ALFA Programme has the following specific objectives:

  • to improve the quality, relevance and accessibility of higher education in Latin America;
  • to contribute to the process of regional integration in Latin America, fostering progress towards the creation of a joint Higher Education Area in the region and exploiting its synergies with the European Union.
