Interesting possibilities for cooperation with university networks
31 Mar 2009
Many Mexican universities operate a network of campuses in various cities throughout the country. These networks offer interesting opportunities for cooperation with other universities, since signing an agreement with one campus can open doors to many other campuses.
Many of Mexico’s private universities in particular make use of this system. One example is the well-known Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM), which has its main campus in Monterrey, plus over 30 other campuses elsewhere in Mexico.
Student exchange agreements
Many Dutch research universities and universities of professional education have student exchange agreements with one of the ITESM campuses, whereby the signatory campus manages the agreement and students on other campuses also use it.
By the same token, Dutch students can organize their exchange at any of these campuses.
Other examples of universities with campus networks include La Salle, with 14 campuses in Mexico (and many more in the rest of the world), Universidad Iberoamericana, with eight campuses, and Universidad Anahuac, with ten campuses.
Though student exchanges between these campuses are not always as easy and standardized as at ITESM, each of the universities mentioned have indicated the possibility of concluding a similar agreement. Moreover, such agreements would extend to other types of cooperation besides just student exchange.
