This is a general overview of the Mexican education system.
There are six levels of education in Mexico from lower education until postgraduate education. The most relevant titles are:
- Bachillerato / preparatoria: the upper-middle education diploma that grants entry into a graduate programme;
- Licenciatura: the diploma of a graduate programme, comparable with a Bachelor's degree;
- Maestría: the diploma of a postgraduate programme, comparable with a Master's degree; and
- Doctorado: the diploma of a post-Master programme, comparable with a PhD.
